The district is all set to get HAL-IISc skill development centre (SDC) on a sprawling campus of thousands of acres which will help innumerable youths in learning new skills

The foundation stone for the new facility will be laid on Thursday and the new centre will be having individual residential blocks to enable in-house training programme for youths

The skill development programme of government of India has given further impetus to this socially important initiative. Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) has come forward to fully finance the SDC project under its Corporate Social Responsibility

The project includes a skill development centre along with a 200-seater auditorium, lecture halls and a hostel block with 100 rooms for 200 persons. The construction is expected to be completed in 24 months. The facility will be commissioned and training activities will begin by March 2019
