The BMC has stated that the Smart City project will kick off in Lower Parel. The proposal is expected to be tabled before the civic standing committee meeting on 26 November 2016
The BMC will invest Rs 5 lakh crore in the next five years into Lower Parel. It has already attracted Rs 2 lakh crore in the past two years
Meanwhile, the BMC plans to connect not just Lower Parel, but also Andheri, Nariman Point and Kala Ghoda with free 4G wifi
It has also lined up a station area traffic improvement scheme ( SATIS) for Lower Parel, as five railway stations are located within one kilometre radius of the area—Lower Parel, Elphinstone Road, Curry Road, Parel, Mahalaxmi and Chinchpokli
